Testimonials
From Marina
For me, being a teacher is a great privilege.
I have always loved teaching. I first started teaching private students at the age of 14. At 17, I was invited to direct the guitar program at a public school in my home city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. The following year, I was offered a position at the prestigious School of Music for Talented Children in the Ukraine.
Since coming to the United States, I have taught many students: adults and children, beginners and advanced students. For beginners, I provide a solid foundation in guitar and piano, sharing my love of these instruments, which became an essential part of my life. For more advanced students, I provide intensive tutoring for those entering Master’s Degree guitar programs or those preparing for competitions. My teaching experience includes private schools and universities.
I am proud of my students’ achievements. They have been awarded scholarships and top prizes at local and national guitar competitions, such as the Southern Guitar Competition, Columbus Guitar Symposium, Texas Guitar Competition, and Appalachian State Guitar Competition. My students have been accepted at prestigious schools like the Peabody Conservatory, the Eastman School of Music, Furman University, and the University of Southern California. To see my students succeed in a music career is all I, as a teacher, can wish for. I am genuinely more proud of my students’ achievements than my own.
I recommend twice-a-week lessons for beginners for several months. Then, once a week, lessons will be a good continuation of the learning process.
Piano Lessons.
If you or your child want to start piano lessons, I recommend purchasing an inexpensive weighted key, full-size (88 keys) keyboard. After two years of committed daily practice, it is time to consider purchasing a used piano. If you don’t have an unlimited budget, purchasing a used (up to 15-year-old piano) is a great option. In-person attendance is mandatory for piano lessons.
Guitar Lessons.
Choosing the right instrument size is essential if you are a beginner guitar student.
For children 6-10 years old, 3/4 size classical guitar.
For age 12 and older, a full-size instrument would be appropriate.
Learning how to play guitar using the classical guitar model is easier. It has nylon strings, which are very gentle on the left-hand fingers. After learning the essential basics (notes, fingerstyle, right-hand technique ), the student can easily explore all the guitar genre varieties (jazz, country, folk, electric, or pop).

Here is my lesson time recommendation for all music students of different ages:
6-10 years old 30 min lessons;
8-13 years old 45 min;
14 years old and up 1-hour lesson.
